The Western Wall and the Dome of the Rock. The holiest site in Judaism, the Western Wall or "Wailing Wall" is all that remains of the second Jewish temple of Jerusalem, built following the destruction of the first temple by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, then destroyed in turn by the Romans in 70 CE. Their former site atop the Temple Mount is now occupied by the Dome of the Rock and the Aqsa Mosque.
